June 16, 1955: "Bly's economy was given a boost Saturday when the Bly Lumber Company plant started operation. Eighteen employes will operate the plant which is the rebuilt Spangler Lumber Mill. That mill was destroyed by fire nine months ago. New owners of the mill are Donald McGee and Gilbert Lilly. Some 250 persons attended reopening ceremonies." (Herald and News)
July 20, 1955: "The Bly Lumber Company started a second shift Monday of this week, according to Don McGee, co-owner of the mill.
The additional shift will be run from 6 p.m. until 4 a.m.
The mill opened here in May, with much of the equipment being moved from the D. L. McGee mill which had been operated at Fort Rock. The site is that of the old Spangler Lumber Company." (Herald and News)

October 27, 1955: "After eight bids between Chiloquin Timber Company and Bly Lumber Company, the Bly Lumber Company purchased on a bid of $22 per thousand the 7,100,000 board feet of pine in the Deming Creek fire sale offer. The Bly Lumber Company also purchased 2,200,000 board feet of fir at the appraised price of $3.25.
The Dry Prairie fire sale went to the only bidder. Bly Lumber Company, at the appraised price of $6 per thousand on 800,000 board feet of pine, plus $5 for tree planting and timber stand management." (Herald and News)

June 17, 1958: "Open house will be held by the Bly Lumber Company in its new plant, recently completed, on Saturday, June 21, from 2 to 5 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Donald L. McGee, owners of the company, are inviting the public to come and see the all metal mill building and the operation. Coffee and punch and doughnuts will be served during the afternoon.
The big mill will be dedicated by Charles Pratt, pastor of the Assembly of God Church and George Simon, pastor of the Christian Missionary Alliance.

Weaver for 5,5oo M board feet of Ponderosa pine and 500 M board feet of white fir in the Pothole Creek sale area No. 1 of the Bly Ranger District.
Donald L. McGee, president of the Bly Lumber Company did the bidding for his company and the price reached $30.70 for the ponderosa pine and $4.80 for white fir. An unestimated amount of older dead was sold for $1 per M.

November 7, 1958: "The Bly Lumber Company was the successful bidder at an oral auction sale held in the office of the Fremont National Forest at 2 p.m. October 31 for 225 M board feet of live ponderosa pine.
The timber sold at the appraised price of $20 per M for the green timber and $10 per M for the blue stained timber. The timber is in the Pothole area of the Bly Ranger District.
The primary purpose of the sale was to bring about the removal of the trees that are infested with broods of the western pine beetle. These broods of beetles will emerge next May and re-infest additional timber. The trees can be identified in late August and September by slight fading in color of the needles.
Bly Lumber Company was represented by Don McGee of Bly. The timber will be logged by Leonard Putnam." (Herald and News)
