June 12, 1918: "A forest fire which started in the sawdust of the old Chambers mill near Dairy on Sunday has burned over a considerable timber area and seriously menaced the valuable timber belt in that district before being brought under control according to word brought in by Jim Driscoll who has returned from a business trip in that section.
The fire spread into the Swan Lake district Monday and threatened the destruction of the new school house there. The combined forces of the DeArmond and Weston mills and the John Robin mill succeeded in getting the flames under control before serious loss of timber was suffered." (The Evening Herald)
