CLARKE SAWMILL
Meva
April 1, 1913: "Operation of the Clarke saw mill near Chiloquin, which he has leased, and his own mill at Meva Siding, near the Clarke mill, will be commenced Monday morning by William B. Barnes. Mr. Barnes expects to cut 50,000 feet of lumber a day by operating the two plants.
The mills to be operated by the former sheriff are in a splendid belt of timber on the Klamath Indian reservation, which was purchased from the government by Barnes last year. The timber is purchased 'on the stump,' and one of the provisions of the sale is that the timber must be removed within a specified length of time." (The Evening Herald)
