FLEISHMAN LUMBER COMPANY
Modoc Point
April 4, 1945: "Fleishman Lumber company of Portland will establish a custom planing mill operation on the site formerly occupied by the Lamm Lumber company at Modoc Point, it was announced today.
James Fleishman, head of the company, said that it is hoped to have the milling-in-transit operation going in 30 days. Carl Huson, former Klamath man, is returning here to become manager of the new lumber plant, which will utilize buildings already standing on the Lamm site.
It was indicated that the plant may be expanded in the re-manufacturing field as conditions justify and permit. At present it will offer a complete custom planing service, including sorting, grading and finishing, and will utilize lumber obtained locally and from the Willamette valley.
Fleishman said he believes the location offers exceptional opportunities in view of its transportation facilities, on two main line railroads with lines fanning out from Klamath Falls to cover the country.
The firm now operates a concentration of mills at Grants Pass, and this is its first venture in the Klamath area. It is the first remanufacturing operation to be located on the site of a dismantled sawmill in this area." (Herald and News)

March 5, 1954: "Fire of undetermined cause broke out shortly before 9 p.m. last night in the planing mill of the Fleishman Lumber Company at Modoc Point, and despite the efforts of five fire fighting crews, burned to the ground.
Within minutes after the first alarm sounded the huge plant was a blazing inferno. Fire crews, unable to make any headway on the main fire, concentrated their efforts in preventing the blaze from spreading down two wooden trams to the drying sheds about 300 feet away, where one half million feet of dry lumber was stored.
The equipment and building were insured, according to A.H. Fleishman, Grants Pass, owner of the plant, who stated no estimate as to the loss could be determined at this time.
The planer was closed down December 12, and had not operated since, however several cars of lumber had been shipped from the drying shed in the past few days.
Fire equipment from Chiloquin, Klamath Agency, Oregon Technical Institute, Klamath Fire Protective Association and one Klamath County truck stationed at the Suburban Fire Department answered the call.
Fleishman interests purchased the old mill site from the Lamm Lumber Company in 1945 and have operated the planer and drying shed since that time." (Herald and News)
