August 5, 1941: "A consent election among employes of the McCollum mill at Malin will be held Friday, Aug. 8, in the mill cookhouse, it was announced Tuesday.
Approximately 45 workers will vote either for or against the Lumber and Sawmill Workers union (AFL) as their bargaining agent." (The Evening Herald)

August 16, 1941: "The Lumber and Sawmill Workers union (AFL) Friday won a national labor relations board collective bargaining agent election at the McCollum mill near Malin, totaling 18 votes on 'AFL--yes or no' ballot.
Five votes were cast for no union. One vote was challenged.
The poll was conducted by Lewis Penfield, NLRB representative from Seattle. Formal NLRB certification of the AFL as bargaining agent is expected to follow." (The Evening Herald)
