March 10, 1945: "Pelican Bay Lumber company will restore its night shift Monday night, it was announced today by President H.D. Mortenson.
The mill has operated on one shift since December, but will now go into high production for the 1945 cutting season.
It has continued its logging operations through the winter and has a good supply of logs on hand for the increased production. The Pelican Bay loggers are headquartered at Sycan and Chinchalo, in the northern part of the Klamath Indian reservation, and are logging on two reservation units." (Herald and News)
