March 2, 1948: "Sale of the Pelican Pine Manufacturers, the former Pelican Bay Lumber company mill and property at Pelican City, to Carr, Adams and Collier company, large manufacturers of millwork in Dubuque, Ia., was made known here today with the filing of the deed of sale.
The Pelican Pine Manufacturers a co-partnership including Harold D. Mortenson, Peter A. Albertson and H. Edwin Nowell, is the successor firm to the old Pelican Bay Lumber company, the first company to locate here to engage in lumbering for outside markets." (Herald and News)
