Chiloquin
July 14, 1955: "Plans for construction of a new 75,000 board-feet per shift sawmill at Chiloquin have been announced by the Simplot - DeVoe Lumber Company, newly incorporated firm of Medford.
The mill will be located on the 30-acre property formerly owned by the Chiloquin Lumber Company. Construction work is to get under way this week. Completion is scheduled for October 1.
Officers of the firm are J. R. Simplot, Boise, Idaho, president; Ernest B. DeVoe, Medford, first vice president; George Dugg, Auburn, California, second vice president; E. J. DeVoe, secretary and John M. Dahl, Boise, treasurer. Jim Davis, Shady Cove, Oregon, is also associated with the firm.
The mill will be administered by Ernest DeVoe until a manager is selected. Timber on the Klamath Indian reservation is owned by the firm." (Herald and News)

August 18, 1963: "Damage to the Simplot and DeVoe sawmill from Tuesday night's fire has been estimated at $20,000.
The estimate was made by an insurance adjuster. Mill superintendent Warren Lough has had electrical contractors inspecting the damage and it was estimated that the mill will be closed about three weeks for repairs.
Most of the damage was in the electrical system at the sawmill, which employs about 14 men. The fire broke out Tuesday night in some motors and spread to flooring and other electrical equipment.
Some of the men idled by the shutdown have been put to work on other jobs in the mill operation, while others are taking their vacations." (Herald and News)
